Safeguarding and Child Protection
Policy Statement
At Rana’s Delights it is our top priority to provide a safe environment for children in our after-school clubs and holiday camps. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all the children.
Rana’s Delights will work with children, parents/guardians and the school to ensure the rights and safety of children are upheld as well as promoting a positive culture and ethos. All staff understand and are committed to implementing the policy in accordance with ‘Working together to safeguard children’ (2018).
Safeguarding and Child Protection at Rana’s Delights
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children refers to the process of protecting children from maltreatment, preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development, ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
Rana’s Delights will:
- Ensure all staff have the appropriate DBS check for working with children in our Clubs and Camps, as well as their ID to ensure they are the person named on the DBS certificate.
- Ensure that anyone coming into school to deliver our Club/Camp has had safeguarding awareness training which is refreshed regularly.
- Ensure all staff have read our safeguarding/child protection policy and know what our internal procedures are for safeguarding and how to liaise with us when they have concerns.
Staff refers to all those working for or on behalf of Rana’s Delights, full time or part time, temporary or permanent, in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
Our Procedure
If we (Rana’s Delights) have a concern that a child has been abused or may be at risk of abuse or exploitation we will:
- Listen carefully to the child so they know that we are taking their disclosure seriously.
- Take notes on what the child says as soon as possible after the disclosure.
- Reassure them they have done the right thing in telling us.
- Explain what you’ll do next (if age appropriate).
- Report the abuse without delay to the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) at both Rana’s Delights and their school.
Rana’s Delights will not give any information to other parties without the child’s consent (or parental consent if the child is under 13) except for the legitimate sharing of safeguarding information.
